▶ SPACER DAMPERS
The integrity of conductors on transmission lines must be safeguarded by damages caused by vibrations phenomena, such as aeolian vibrations and subspan oscillations. The above phenomena are kept under control by using appropriate damping systems which consist of “Spacer Dampers” and/or “Vibration Dampers”.
Spacer Dampers are required to maintain the spacing of sub-conductors in the line bundle and to dissipate energy induced by wind.

Study
A specific study is conducted for each and every transmission line considering that the whole system, line and products, has to be evaluated. Our approach is to supply a complete project rather than simply a product of high performance.
Manufacturing
Products are entirely manufactured by us under a very strict control plan that assures the compliance to the design performances.
Range
Salvi has a full range of products: spacer dampers for all the different types of conductor and spacing, spacer damper for expandend bundles (conductor spacing up to 1.200 mm), vibration dampers for every cable, damping systems for any particular application (bridges, antennas, rope structures).
Calculations
Our computerized program to perform a damping study has been developed and systematically improved by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Polytechnic of Milano.

Design
The design of all the vibration and spacer dampers has been directly carried out by Salvi Engineers.
Special requests
Besides our standard production we can satisfy any special request of our Customers: break away bolting, rubber liners, stainless steel messenger cable and special components for low temperature.
Field tests
The validation of a damping system is carried out with measurements performed on site (FIELD TEST). Salvi has its own resources and equipment to perform field tests on Customer demand.
▶ VIBRATION DAMPERS
Vibration dampers are used on single conductors/earthwire/OPGW or on conductor bundles in association with spacer dampers (if and when necessary).
As far as the introduction, studies, calculations, design, specifications and special requests, the contents of same paragraphs under “Spacer Dampers” are also applicable to Vibration Dampers.

▶ TRANSMISSION LINE ACCESSORIES
Our Company can provide the following power line accessories for which we are giving a short description hereunder.
Compressed Anchor Devices
This kind of device has been designed for the use on Towers, Antennas, Communications and other types of guyed structures. We have developed an innovative design that uses the compression technique to connect tower and cable to the ground, providing several advantages to its user such as but not limited to:
> Compression gripping principle more effective than simple surface friction (used in preformed solution). In fact it allows to install this type of anchor devices for loads between 20 and 65 tons.
> Ample possibility of suitable setting due to the use of adjustable components with wide range of employment and far more precision than normally used U-Bolt.
> Fast assembly timing
> Flexibility: same element can be used for different diameter/stranding cables (preformed type needs a specific sizing for each cable diameter and formation)
> Possibility to operate in the yard or at site.

Spherical Day Markers
The Spherical markers have been designed in order to warn the overhead transmission lines to prevent aircraft or helicopter crashes. Standard spheres are made in ABS and are available in two sizes (Ø 500 mm and Ø 610 mm) and in three colours (Red, Orange and White or any combination of two of them). Special requirements (different sizes, colours, etc) could also be satisfied upon request.
Night Warning Light for phase conductors
Warning Lights are suitable for power lines with a nominal voltage from 30 kV to 533 kV. Our products comply with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Specification.
Bird Flight Diverter
The Diverter has been designed to warn birds against overhead transmission lines cables by increasing the visibility of the line preventing birds from scratching.
